United States 2013, 120 min, English and Spanish, Hebrew & English subtitles

Mystery, primal urges, jealousy, drama, passion and even murder. This incident proves that all it takes is nine people to turn Heaven into Hell. A bitter Berlin doctor and his young lover dream of fleeing society and building a new life for themselves. They leave their families behind in Germany of the 1930’s and settle on one of the Galapagos Islands, where they are the only living people. But then their idyllic existence is interrupted, when other settlers join them. The frictions deteriorate into a whirlwind of dark passions and lust, and maybe even murder – though the case has yet to be solved. This film combines rare historic photographs with intimate documentary footage of unusual wildlife and landscapes. The result is a deep sense of longing for the island’s pastoral beauty, but also of intense discomfort.
