She fell in love with Ohad Naharin, and wanted to dance for no one else. But after 10 years with the Batsheva Dance Company, Bobbi Jene Smith decides to return to the US to find her own way as an artist. At 30, older than most of her colleagues, Bobbi Jene is looking for a home, a place where she can reveal herself totally. She gives up her position, her adoring public, and even her passionate affair with a young Israeli dancer. Returning to her parents’ home in Iowa, and attempting to break into the competitive American dance scene, she is faced with deep personal and professional dilemmas; but she is also driven to create work that’s more original, bolder, and more honest than she could have imagined.
