United States / Italy 2016, 80 min, English, French and Italian, Hebrew & English subtitles

When the son of Franca Sozzani, the powerful editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, decided to make a movie about her, he didn’t know he was documenting her final years. Sozzani, who passed away in December, wasn’t an easy person to interview. Her independent spirit, which guided her 28-year tenure as editor of the world’s boldest, most inventive fashion magazine, made for a tumultuous shoot; running the gamut—according to the director—“between lots of fuck you’s and lots of I love you’s”. This mother-son relationship led to a particularly intimate film. This portrait of Sozzani, who turned the fashion pages into a place for tackling burning social issues (oil spills, plastic surgery, violence against women), also features personal accounts from Gianni and Donatella Versace, Bruce Webber, Naomi Campbell, Karl Lagerfeld and others.
