Italy / France 2016, 89 min, Italian, Hebrew & English subtitles

Father Cataldo gets up every morning and goes about his normal routine. In his small Sicilian church, dozens of believers await the elderly priest, begging him to exorcise their demons, literally. Exorcisms are an everyday occurrence here: Writhing ecstasy, rolling eyes and agonized shrieks are treated with holy water and bible verses by a small contingent of devoted priests, determined to free their flock from the evil spirits who enter “through the cracks in the soul”. This phenomenon, which seemed to have been relegated to the world of horror films, is alive and well—and Father Cataldo is just one soldier in a growing army of exorcists recruited by the Catholic Church all over the world.
