The Great Documentary Challenge: A Documentary Film in 5 Days Competition

Launch: April 29, 2012

DocChallenge is an international film project taking place in Israel for the fourth year – a competition for making short documentaries on a given subject in a limited time span. Participating filmmakers have only 5 days to create a documentary film 4-7 minutes long.

This year’s theme: Foreign Body

12-15 filmmakers chosen to set out on this adventure will put their team together and receive all the means of production needed to create a film. All teams work on their films in parallel and submit them on the appointed day and time. New this year: all films will be produced in high definition (HD).

Jury

Doron Solomons – video artist, film editor and art teacher. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Israel and internationally.

Yoav Shamir – award-winning documentary director, producer and cinematographer. His films include: Checkpoint, Flipping Out, and Defamation.

Dvorit Shargal – a blogger focusing on media critique (Velvet Underground) and former film critic. She was among the creators of “Down Under Tel Aviv” (Doc Challenge 2009).
