Urbanized

United Kingdom / United States 2011, 85 min, English, Hebrew subtitles

Over half of the earth’s population lives in urban areas; the forecast is that by 2050, 75% of the population will live in cities.?? A spectacular visual overview based on the vision of top international urban designers – architects, engineers, intellectuals and policy makers – examines the future of the city as a major challenge humanity faces. Gary Hustwit’s new film completes his design trilogy, which includes an inquiry about the place of graphic design in today's reality (“Helvetica”, 2007) and an exploration of industrial design and product design (“Objectified” 2009). As urban design is not in the hands of a single expert, the film emphasizes the importance of public discussion of the challenges ahead.
