Bill Cunningham New York

United States 2011, 84 min, English, Hebrew subtitles

Now in his eighties, the legendary New York Times fashion photographer does not stop for a moment. Bill Cunningham's column has served as a central reference for the fashion world of the Big Apple. The diligent photographer is everywhere: he picks up trends from street fashion in real time like a war photographer; at charity events of New York’s elite – his subjects are the ones to chase him. As Vogue editor Anna Winter attests: “We all dress for Bill”. Chronicling his successful career, Richard Press’s film also reveals that the man behind the camera lives an extremely modest life: he wears drab colors, rides a simple bicycle through the streets of Manhattan and lives in a small studio dedicated to files of his work.
