BERT STERN, Original MadMan

United States 2011, 87 min, English, Hebrew subtitles

Bert Stern is one of the first photographers to become a star in his own right. His photographs changed the face of the advertising world in the 1950s. At the age of 25, the boy from Brooklyn was already living the dream: alongside the provocative ads he created, Stern became famous for eliciting the best from the women of Hollywood and the fashion scene. Stern claims he has always been attracted to the women he photographed, as his famous “last sitting” with Marilyn Monroe confirms. Director and producer Shannah Laumeister reveals the wild life of photography and advertising’s bad boy: addiction to women and amphetamines, hospitalization, the break-up of his marriage and his successful comeback.
