HOW MUCH DOES YOUR BUILDING WEIGH, MR. FOSTER?

Spain / United Kingdom 2011, 78 min, English, Hebrew subtitles

Norman Foster is considered one of the world’s foremost contemporary architects. Born to a Manchester working class family, Foster let nothing stand in his way and designed some of the most impressive contemporary projects, including the Reichstag, London City Hall and the new Beijing Airport. Breathtaking cinematography and interviews with Foster and leading figures who follow and admire his work reveal a unique architectural vision. In his 70s, having won a bout with cancer, Foster looks ahead to designing the city of the future – Masdar in Abu Dhabi. The film is narrated by the director of the London Design Museum Deyan Sudjic, who analyzes the relation between the architect’s impressive image and the principles of design which guide his work.
