The film, winner of the Danish Academy Award for Best Short Documentary, follows the daily routine of Fini, the director’s 85 year old grandfather who has Alzheimer’s disease. Fini has a hard time getting up, and his experiences in the daily care center are confusing. Yet the patient compassionate gaze of the director reveals a positive individual who, against all odds, manages to enjoy a spark of life.

Jacob Secher Schulsinger is born in 1979 in Copenhagen.
He graduated from The National Danish Film School as a film editor in
2009. He started his career as a film editor on several short fiction and
documentary films. Most of his work as a film editor has been selected and awarded at
numerous festivals all over the world including prestigious festivals like
Cannes Film Festival, Sundance, European Film Award and IDFA.

In early 2011 Jacob finished editing his first two fiction feature length
films. The first film was Rúnar Rúnarsson’s debut, “Volcano” and the
second film was Ruben Östlund’s third feature “Play”.
Both films had their international premiere during the Cannes Film
Festival. 2011. "Play" was chosen as the Directors' Fortnight's ‘Special pick' (Coup
de Coeur)

‘Fini’ is Jacob Secher Schulsinger’s first film as a director.
Currently Jacob is working on his second film as a director, co-directing
with Mexican director Nicholas Pereda as a part of the programme
DOX:LAB.
