Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry

United States 2012, 91 min, English and Mandarin Chinese, Hebrew & English subtitles

Ai Weiwei is one of the most significant artists active in the international arena today. His provocative works of art, his free, critical and humorous expression on his blog and his witty and frequent twitter updates have earned him an enthusiastic following in China and throughout the world. But his demand for democracy and transparency in China was not viewed favorably by the authorities. His ongoing house arrest aroused attention and started an international campaign on his behalf. The film, winner of the Special Jury Prize at Sundance, draws a portrait of a visionary artist and original thinker and revolutionary who blurs the distinction between art and activism and courageously confronts those who try to hold him back.
