In 2009 Docaviv NPO decided to further its activities and launched Docaviv Galilee – a documentary film festival in Ma'alot Tarshicha.

Docaviv Galilee wishes to promote documentary filmmaking and expose it to new audiences, to create a stage for unique meetings between viewers and filmmakers, and to nurture local documentary creation by youth, students, and established makers.

Since its foundation, Docaviv Galilee has been leading a dialog between Israeli documentarists and the multifaceted population of the Galilee, and has been promoting a discussion around Israel's social, cultural, and geographical periphery.

Docaviv Galilee festival's 3^rd edition took place on November 28 – December 2^nd 2011, at Ma'alot Tarshicha. Over 30 documentary films were featured, alongside several events and meetings.
