When her two sons, Markus and Lukas, were born, Director Aslaug Holm could not resist the temptation to turn her camera on them and document the first decade of their lives. Originally, she wanted to capture intimate little moments before they slipped away. Instead, she found herself contending with questions that ran much deeper than she ever expected. What is the nature of memory itself? How do we each find our place in the world? How is that influenced by our family histories, or where we grew up? Often she was forced to choose between the distance required of her as a cinematographer and her natural inclination to intervene in the lives of her two young children. The delicate balance that she found resulted in a thought-provoking film, breathtaking in its intensity and heartwarming in its tenderness.
