France / Italy 2016, 70 min, Arabic, Hebrew & English subtitles
In a vast, breathtaking, desert, one rivaling any nature documentary, a millennia-old tradition naturally blends with the world of ultra-rich kids and their toys. The falconry competitions of the Qatari desert are a place where raptors glide through the skies in search of prey (fitted with cameras providing rare vistas), but the tracks in the sand are made by gold-plated motorcycles and fire-breathing Lamborghinis with cheetahs as passengers. The elites of the Arab Emirates fly their falcons here in private luxury jets, bringing city life and cutting-edge technology to the dunes in a series of ancient and modern rituals.
