Spain / France / Germany 2018, 80 min, Spanish, Hebrew & English subtitles
The secret life of the big city happens underground, in the tunnels and dark spaces where liquids drip and engines churn and machines screech and animals scuttle into view, only to be swallowed by the darkness again. Director Víctor Moreno takes the viewers on a journey to the center of the earth, into the city’s bowels, the place without which it cannot exist. Seeming to belong on another planet, in another universe, these alien landscapes are teeming with movement, sounds, and colors. Animals and humans spend their days here, moving abruptly between darkness and light, between vast open spaces and tight crevices, far beneath the feet of city-dwellers, ceaselessly moving overhead.
The film’s unique score, composed by Juan Carlos Blancas, adds a mesmerizing effect to the already stunning cinematography.
