The British immigration officers demand that he tell the truth, but Shahin, a 20-year-old Iranian asylum-seeker, knows that the truth is not a simple matter. It is confusing and does not always work in your favor.
Reconstructed in his own voice, the interrogation serves as the soundtrack for Shahin’s rocky emotional states after he fled Tehran, illegally entered Turkey, crossed the border into Greece, and managed to get on a plane to London.
Filled with powerful imagery, this impressionist depiction of Shahin’s journey sweeps the viewers into the depths of his experience. A slew of text messages, phone calls, and testimonies tells a story of setting out towards an uncertain future, dreaming of a new world, and finally awakening to reality.
