Poland 2024, 12 min, No Dialogue

The frame centers on a pair of eyes, capturing the storm reflected within: anger, bewilderment, despair, terror. What goes through the head of this lone bison, cut off from its herd, as it stands behind the steel fence that bisects what was once a wilderness without borders? The European bison, descended from an extinct species found only in this forest near the Poland–Belarus border, is doomed to become a silent witness to a violent reality as a humanitarian crisis unfolds around it. In its poetic and uncompromising style, the film unveils a harsh truth that extends beyond human concerns and pierces the beating heart of nature itself.
