Finding the right partner, the right place, and the right time to start a family—these are nature’s most crucial prerequisites for survival. This wonderful glimpse into the making of a new generation of Caribbean flamingos at their Yucatan Peninsula nesting grounds shows just how fragile and transient life is, and how much sheer grit is required to sustain it. This immersive nature doc stands out in its uniquely philosophical yet humorous narration, lively music that seems to translate the birds’ lives into Latin beats, and visuals that delight the eyes with color and motion even before the mind assigns them meaning.
