Afghanistan 2024, 71 min, Afghan Persian, Hebrew & English subtitles

Since their return to power in 2021, the Taliban have been violating human rights in Afghanistan with renewed vigor, forcing Afghan women to live in the shadows, hidden behind closed doors, buried under burqas, banished from public life, and denied their freedoms. Yet, from this brutal oppression, a cry emerges: the voices of courageous women, some of them mothers, refusing to be silenced. Zainab Entezar’s film gives us direct access to these women’s fight for their right to food, work, and education. Often through smartphone cameras, we are thrown into their protests, where we witness moments of fleeing police gunfire, hiding, fear, and, yes, hope. This raw, powerful footage reveals breathtaking honesty and awe-inspiring resistance.
