United States 2024, 90 min, English, Hebrew & English subtitles

When Trump incited his supporters to storm Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, Adam Kinzinger stood out as one of the few Republicans to vote for the president’s impeachment for inciting insurrection. Facing threats and immense pressure, he served on the committee investigating the events, officially becoming an outcast within his party. In Steve Pink’s film, the Hollywood director (and, as Kinzinger half-jokingly labels him, a communist, a characterization Pink corrects to “progressive”) presents a surprisingly optimistic story about a principled politician who swims against the prevailing tide of cynical utilitarianism, even knowing it would spell the end of his career, and about unexpected dialogue between ideological adversaries who find common ground.
