Poland 2022, 81 min, Polish, Hebrew & English subtitles

Poland’s biggest pawnshop is in serious trouble. In the once-bustling town, few want to buy used irons, old fur coats, or second-hand erotic literature anymore. The cash register stands empty, and the tension leads to loud arguments between store managers Jola and Wiesiek. Between cigarette breaks, they find themselves comforting customers who open their hearts instead of their wallets, lending an ear to their pain and offering advice by sharing their life experience. Despite the looming financial threat, the saleswomen serve soup and bread to a homeless man and shove bills into the hands of a destitute woman from next door. In an attempt to breathe new life into the store and the neighborhood, they announce a carnival day. This heart-stirringly human film is brimming with compassion, tenderness, and humor.
