Serbian soldiers have come to Sarajevo to win, but the circumstances are far less grim than they had been 30 years ago. This time, they are here for an indoor soccer tournament between former Yugoslav republics, and the camera captures it with careful, sober optimism, never forgetting the threat of history repeating itself.

Gorana Jovanović is a filmmaker from Belgrade. Her 2020 film, ARMADILA was one of 2021 EFA Short Film Candidates. Her latest short film, BALLS (2022), had its World premiere in the Pardi di domani section of the 75th Locarno Film Festival and was included in IDFA’s Best of Fests selection.
