The crime scene in eastern Ukraine stretches over 12 square kilometers of sunflower fields dotted with coal mines. In July 2014, Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 crashed here while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing all 298 passengers and crew members. At the time, the area had already been a battleground between Russia and Ukraine, and Russian Buk missile batteries had been deployed there—but Putin’s government denied any involvement, and despite mounting evidence, the West hesitated to point fingers or demand punishment. Was this a turning point in history? The moment when lies and threats of violence supplanted the truth in broad daylight? Filmmaker Roman Liubyi weaves an in-depth investigation, testimonies, interviews, and rare footage into a disturbing cinematic piece.
