After decades of living as a “seagull” (the Bulgarian term for a beach bum and something of a male escort for wealthy lady tourists), Ivan dreams of settling down or at least finding a home with a woman who will love him. But at 58, with no income and nothing to his name, his attractiveness to women has diminished considerably. When the pandemic hits, he and the younger “seagulls” in the seaside resort town are deprived of their livelihood, and Ivan decides to try his luck on the internet. The film follows his desperate attempts to find a woman willing to come to Bulgaria to marry him, as well as his efforts to reconcile with his son, who lives in Ukraine and has recently become a father. Ivan is overjoyed by the prospect of being a grandfather, but then the war knocks everything off-kilter.
