Salvatore Ferragamo always dreamed of shoes. In Bonito, the Italian village of his birth, shoemaking was considered an inferior profession, but the boy who designed beautiful shoes for his sisters never gave up. After a long and winding journey, he made it to Hollywood, where he crafted imaginative shoes for the big movie stars. Ferragamo created shoes from every possible material (from kangaroo leather to bottle caps), drawing inspiration from distant eras and cultures. The man who invented the platform shoe and designed unique footwear for Marilyn Monroe, Eva Perón, Audrey Hepburn, and Judy Garland knew ups and downs in his life but earned himself a prominent place in the Italian fashion world. Director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) tells the visionary craftsman’s story from a first-person perspective (with the help of actor Michael Stuhlbarg).

Luca Guadagnino is an award winning filmmaker. He is the director and producer of several celebrated films, such as A Bigger Splash, I Am Love, Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria, and Bones and All. Call Me By Your Name received four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture,
